Techizmo V5 is here!
Posted by Ben Winn in Uncategorized on June 13th, 2010

Let me start by saying good morning to everyone on this fine day!

Well you probably noticed when you first jumped on the site a whole new revamped look appeared a new featured ‘scroller’ and so on, well this is v5 the one that’s been in development over a month now and only yesterday it was finally ready to be put up live as I finished all the coding of the ‘backend’ file that gives new stunning features and effects by using the new and latest version of jQuery  1.4.2!

So enough of that, let’s crack on what’s been added and what’s been thrown away :)

1. First you will notice a new status box, this one plug-in I created especially for my website, to allow me to keep all visitors/users up-to-date quick as possible apart from Twitter of course:

BTW (By the way) the curves is for people who are using latter modern browsers that take advantage of CSS3 short-hand codes like “-moz-border-radius” or “-webkit-border-radius” this allows every web designer out there to create utter beautiful designs… Anyway’s I’ll save that for another article!

This status box is only there to keep you up-to-date, for when I have to modify something internal or I have upgrade something and so on this way you won’t be left in the dark!

2. (The sexy feature) The featured post scroller.

Again if you are using IE (Internet Explorer) YOU WILL NOT see the transparency in the box, this is because Microsoft haven’t supported CSS3 yet — What a surprise eh?!

This will show two featured posts of mine that I determine should be on the spot light, like as you see now Techizmo V5 is here… Well that certainly deserves to be on the spot light don’t you think? :)

What I just said should explain everything you need to know about that feature!

3. Most Commented — Ah yes let the debates begin!

This nice little addition to Techizmo is to show where all the talking is at, this code I wrote myself to show the latest 5 most commented posts on Techizmo of course this will always change when someone posts that very first comment then next you know you have over 10 comments to scroll through!

4. Most noticeably will be the Social Networking icons above the layout — Come on share the love people!!!

As you can see above the icons fly up when you hover over them, this is a nice little fancy effect from our great friend jQuery — Who said you can’t be too fancy eh?! No one silly! :D

Now as always you are not forced to share us about on the web, but if you do we would most appreciate it as it shows us your love to us in a non close way of course ;)

5. Ah last of the list — Always save the best for later is our motto!

The new logo for Techizmo as we thought well… The old one was great but utilized the blue scheme (which was v4) and v5 is far from blue so we scrapped it and opened Photoshop and got cracking on a new logo which you see now!

And for old time sake let’s look at the old logo shall we :D

Yes blue logo your very sexy but it’s time to depart and say goodbye :’( — Oh what am I kidding it’s going to be on my PC for a very long time ’til my hard drive fails that is!!!

And for the end of this article well here we have two screenshots V4 vs V5 ah yes that’s me saying get cracking people on a debate below!!!

Version 4 (Old screenshot but still was the same!)

Version 5 (The beautiful one!)

LET THE BATTLE ROLL!

And if you notice any problems well be sure to let me know people, and last note I’m off for now but look out later for some nice tutorials :)
