Facebook 4.0 – What’s New?
Posted by Ben Winn in Internet on October 11th, 2011

So Facebook have released their new update version 4.0 which now updates iPhone’s/iPod Touches and now includes a very own iPad version!!! Which most iPad users have been patiently waiting for, well the wait is now over and is available for grabs in the Apple’s App Store.

So what does this version bring to iPhone/iPod Touch users? Let’s take a peak and see what we have!

You will most definitely notice a brand new splash screen as soon as you fire up Facebook:

Look’s similar to the Facebook Messenger splash screen minus the icon.

Now when Facebook has finished loading up you will now be greeted with a new look, obviously the main table hasn’t changed much but the UI (User Interface) has:

As mentioned above the table interface hasn’t changed but clearly the UI has, which makes it more slick than it’s previous design!

Now if you tap this button on the screen, it will show you the new menu system that Facebook have implemented and believe me it’s awesome and much cleaner!

Accessing your messages has never been easier using the new menu system! (Names & Pictures blurred out to protect privacy of my contacts.) It also has new options at the bottom obviously the first one is to access the messages, 2nd other (haven’t tried this) and 3rd online which I’m assuming shows who’s online at that point (will try these features out!).

When browsing your own or someones photo’s you will now see them in a grid-view so you can view the photo you wish to view, this certainly makes it feel more like the desktop version of Facebook. You also have the option above (+) to add photos into this folder (obviously your own photos!).

When you tap on a photo you will notice a new layout system on the photo, everything is more like the desktop version where ‘Like’ & ‘Comment’ have their own separate buttons. Unlike the previous version where you just had one button that took you to the comments and you could like it/comment it from there.

If you tap the button on the top right hand corner you will get these options (some options are only available if it’s your own photo.):

Now heres whats been changed in this version (update log):
