So earlier today I was messing about with my iPhone 3GS that’s on firmware 4.3.1 (I haven’t bothered to update it yet) and I came across this flaw in the passcode screen, which allows you to bypass it in turn it takes you straight to the Home Screen and gives you full access to Contacts, E-mails, Phone and anything that’s on the iPhone itself – pretty bad if you ask me as this could be used for malicious use so I recommend don’t leave your phone unattended!
So here’s the proof of the method I found that works:
And here’s the instructions if you wish to try this yourself:
- Lock the iPhone.
- Press the ‘Home’ button.
- Slide to unlock.
- Press the ‘Emergency Call’ button.
- Press the ‘Power’ button twice (do this quickly).
And you should at that point be on the Home screen, so there you’ve bypassed the passcode screen – now give yourself a pat on the back and say well done to yourself!
If you get problems while trying this method, then leave a comment below and they’ll get answered within good timing!
